Description
Oxifend® Throatsoothers contain a proprietary formulation of natural grape and blackcurrant extracts with potent antiinflammatory and anti-bacterial activity presented in a tasty grape juice lozenge.

 

Functionality
Anti-inflammatory activity – the natural grape and blackcurrant extracts in Oxifend® Throatsoothers have potent antiinflammatory activity. Independent tests have shown that these extracts inhibited the inflammatory response of isolated rat neutrophils by 100% at a concentration of 0.25 mg/ml or greater(1). This was measured as the inhibition of LPS-activated production of TNFaby these cells.

Anti-bacterial activity – the natural grape and blackcurrant extracts in Oxifend® Throatsoothers have potent antibacterial activity. Independent tests have shown that these extracts inhibited the growth of both Gram +ve and Gram – ve bacteria (Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli) by 100% after 24 hrs, at a concentration of 1.5 and 3.0 mg/ml or greater respectively (2).
